Unveiling the 2023 Payments Compliance Conference: A Must-Attend Event for Payments Compliance Professionals

Staying up-to-date on the dynamic regulatory landscape is vital for businesses in the payment industry. Attending a specialized event like the Payments Compliance Conference (PCC) can help legal, risk, and compliance professionals stay ahead. The PCC, focused solely on payments compliance, is an immersive two-day experience that brings together federal regulators, legal and industry experts, and payment networks, providing valuable insights into protecting their businesses and navigating the current regulatory landscape.

The Power of PCC: Learn from Those Who Are Writing the Rules

The unique attraction of the PCC lies in the unmatched insights it offers from the combination of federal regulators and experts, presenting attendees with an opportunity to hear directly from those writing the rules. A one-of-a-kind event, PCC provides a comprehensive review of payments compliance laws, in-depth discussions with experts at round tables, and networking opportunities with regulators, legal experts, payment networks, and fellow compliance professionals.

Divided into three sections, compliance foundations, current laws, and network rules, the PCC caters to beginners and experienced compliance professionals. The 101 level is designed for entry-level participants and takes place on the morning of Day 1. The more advanced 201 level unfolds on the afternoon of Day 1 and throughout Day 2. The afternoon of the third day includes hearing from payments networks on the latest card rules.

A Look Back: Highlights from PCC 2022

In our inaugural PCC in 2022, participants heard enlightening presentations on various topics, from data harvesting and crypto regulation to taxation and beyond. There were several notable presentations that provided insights and guidance on topics, including vital enforcement actions, how to mitigate regulatory risk, consequences of non-compliance, how to think about the regulatory environment in D.C. and more. You can view the full 2022 agenda here.

Another popular session was the overview of politics/Capitol Hill, hosted by ETA’s EVP, Scott Talbott. Since ETA works closely with Congress to deliver the messages of the payments industry, Scott’s session provided significant insight. He discussed how the 117th Congress views the payments industry and projections for the 118th Congress.

PCC 2022 featured a variety of talks and individual tables hosted by law firms to facilitate further discussion on the topics discussed. PCC 2023 will build upon the foundation from last year and continue ensuring all businesses focus on compliance and understand why it is essential.

What to Expect at PCC 2023

Scheduled to take place on November 8 and 9, 2023, at the Ritz-Carlton in Pentagon City, Virginia, PCC 2023 promises to be a remarkable experience. Topics to be covered include the Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, Know Your Customer, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and several detailed sessions on topics ranging from Crypto and Taxes to Exams and Underwriting.
